Need assistance with your community planning needs? The Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association Pro Bono Committee is now taking inquiries from communities that are in need of technical planning assistance in 2014.

The mission of the Pro Bono Planning Service Program is to provide planning services on a pro bono basis by the Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-IL) membership, to assist eligible non – profit organizations, community groups, service agencies and governmental units in the initiation, organizing and fine tuning of early stage planning projects. The program is not intended to compete with private sector planning services which may be needed to perform and complete any of a full range of planning activities.

Project assistance typically extends over a one-day period and may include activities such as: visioning workshops, master planning workshops, community input sessions, visioning after disaster recovery, pre-redevelopment brainstorming, and many other types of pre-planning projects. Communities must be able to demonstrate a need, provide appropriate support, and use the committee’s efforts to build local capacity and long lasting solutions. Our participating members are among the 1,500 professional and certified urban planners in the State of Illinois who believe in providing community service as a part of our profession.
