South Suburban Pads Advocates for Illinois FY24 Emergency and Transitional Housing Budget Increase

  • South Suburban PADS is working to prevent and end homelessness in south suburban Cook County. SSPADS is urging south suburban officials to get involved and advocate for Governor Pritzker to increase the emergency and transitional housing budget for FY24.

  • Local officials can take part in an organizational sign-on Letter to Governor Pritzker in support of increased state funding to strengthen the emergency shelter system for people experiencing homelessness. Over 250 organizations from around the state have signed a letter encouraging Governor Pritzker to include $61M (a $51M increase) in the Emergency and Transitional Housing Program in his FY24 Budget Proposal. Read the full letter here.

  • Download the recent presentation from SSMMA's Housing Collaborative meeting on February 9, 2023, to learn more about the emergency shelter crisis throughout the south suburban region.
