$3 million Calumet City pumping station project finished

Officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday in Calumet City to announce completion of the rehabilitation of an 80-year-old sewer pumping station.

The pump station, located at State Street and Burnham Avenue, had all of its equipment replaced with newer, more energy efficient parts, according to a release.

“The rehabilitation of the combined sewer pumping station will result in reliable operation of the station for years to come,” Mayor Michelle Markiewicz Qualkinbush said. “This investment in our infrastructure assures our residents and businesses that problems such as flooding, basement backups and sanitary sewer overflows will be prevented…” Please click here to read David P.
