New life for stalled Matteson subdivision

More than eight years after work ground to a halt at the Brookmere subdivision in Matteson, there are signs of building activity.

Developer CalAtlantic Group acquired dozens of lots in the development, between Cicero Avenue and Interstate 57 and south of Vollmer Road, after the recession and financial troubles of the previous developer stalled the project.

The company hopes to soon have model homes available, although it hasn’t yet set prices. Ultimately, it plans to build 126 single-family homes, 72 townhouses and 27 quad buildings that have four rental units each.
