Mortgage settlement could bring $1.5 million for Illinoisans who lost homes


Illinois residents who faced foreclosure or lost their homes due to alleged improper mortgage loan servicing practices by PHH Mortgage Corp. are eligible to collect $1.5 million in cash payments as part of a nationwide settlement, state Attorney General Lisa Madigan said.

The company faced lawsuits from every state’s attorney general with the exception of New Jersey, where it’s based, and from mortgage regulators from multiple states.
