From the Cook County Department of Environmental Control

You’re invited to learn about a free tool that will help match community solar projects, subscribers, and hosts throughout Illinois through this free webinar sponsored by the Institute for Sustainable Communities and Cook County Department of Environment and Sustainability.  It’s taking place on

January 25, 2018, 10:00 am – 11:00 am CST.

Background: Thanks to the Future Energy Jobs Act, Illinois hopes to see an explosion of Community Solar projects within the next year. Community solar allows renters and condo dwellers, people whose roofs cannot support solar, and people who simply can’t afford the up-front investment, to participate in the benefits and savings of renewable energy by subscribing to a project that is not necessarily on their property.

Solar developers, potential community solar subscribers (especially residents, small businesses and nonprofits), and communities that want to host community solar will need to find each other to create economically successful projects. One exciting tool under development will help make this happen. The Accelerate Group, a Midwest-based strategic consulting firm, is building a website (www.solarinthecommunity.com – site still under development) that will help make the community solar market more transparent and accessible to all parties.

Who should register? Solar developers who want to find sites or subscribers for community solar projects in Illinois communities or local governments in Illinois with sites where you would like to see community solar, or potential community solar subscribers in Illinois.
