Park Forest residents have taken petitions to run for village mayor in the general election in April 2019. They include two sitting trustees, a former member of the board and five others.

One name is missing. John A. Ostenburg will no longer shake the tree. The village mayor for the last 20 years, and before that a member of the village board for seven years, is calling it quits.

“If you include the two years as a state representative in Springfield, that adds up to 29 years,” Ostenburg said. “That’s enough…” Please click here to read Jerry Shnay’s column in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.

Mayor Ostenburg provided dedicated leadership to SSMMA as its president from June 2016 until May 2017, and afterward as immediate past president.
