    The grant was obtained through the Invest in Cook program and will cover the engineering work required to begin the trail creation process.     Metra Board approves 2021 budget

    Press release from Metra: The Metra Board approved the agency’s 2021 operating budget. Although its $700 million operating budget for next year does not call for any fare increases or service cuts from present levels, the agency’s leadership warned that without additional COVID-related financial assistance, Metra will need to cut expenses by $70 million next year. “Without additional financial assistance, we face extremely difficult choices – and that includes service cuts,”

    Flossmoor to receive $1.5 million grant for downtown flooding fixes

Mayor Paul Braun announced just before the end of the Village Board’s regular meeting held Monday, Nov. 16 via  Zoom that the Army Corps of Engineers notified the village it was awarded $1.5 million. Flossmoor is obligated to contribute another $500,000 to the project upon receiving that grant. Braun said

    After jacking up assessments on commercial properties in the northern Chicago suburbs in 2019, Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi has delivered a repeat performance south and west of the city this year.
