An award-winning, progressive community with a stellar reputation for professional local governance, the Village of Park Forest seeks to fill the position of Director of Community Development. A politically and financially stable organization with a long-standing culture for employee job satisfaction, the outgoing Director is retiring after more than 40 years with the Village. A diverse workplace, the result of proactive steps taken over several decades, Park Forest seeks candidates with visionary leadership and excellent supervisory skills to oversee code enforcement and building plan review operations. The Department also includes one of the longest tenured housing authorities in the Chicagoland area. Staff oversight includes 8 full-time personnel plus seasonal hires. Ideal candidates should have municipal community development experience and a working knowledge of building codes (local codes, BOCA, etc.). An excellent ability to interpret building code requirements and interact with the public is critical. A bachelor's degree in architecture, planning, engineering, public administration, political science, or similar area of emphasis is desired.
