Tinley Park considers tax breaks to keep one business from leaving, attract another

In a recent letter to the village, Ryan Hill, Airy’s vice president, said the company has looked at relocating out of Cook County due to “unsustainable” increases in its property tax bill over the last 10 years. The company sent along a copy of its tax bill for 2016, which totaled more than $49,000, and its first tax installment this year is $27,000.

“Our business cannot continue to sustain this financial hardship,” Hill wrote in the letter.

Airy’s has been in the village since 1988 and has 40 employees.
