(L-R): SSMMA President and Hazel Crest Mayor Vernard Alsberry, AT&T Director of External Affairs Sam Balark and IL State Sen. Michael E. Hastings
Members of the 45 communities that represent SSMMA spent the morning participating in discussions about our 2018 Legislative Priorities with legislators and hearing about opportunities in Springfield on February 16 at the Idlewild Country Club in Flossmoor. The event was originally slated for a week earlier on Feb. 9, but had to be rescheduled due to severe snow conditions. We appreciated all who were able to adjust their schedules to be a part of this important discussion.
We thank all who participated in the program as well as all who sent representatives. Attendees included Illinois State Sen. Michael Hastings, Illinois State Reps. Al Riley, Anthony DeLuca and Justin Slaughter, Cook County Commissioner Deborah Sims and MWRD Commissioner Kari Steele. Also present were: Dan McManus and Loren Harris (representing U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth), Greg Bales (representing U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin), Rick Bryant (representing U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly), Robyn Grange and Younus Suleman (representing U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush), Bola DeLano and Tony Land (representing Illinois State Comptroller Suzanna Mendoza), Kelly Evans (representing State Sen. Toi Huchinson), Robert Peters (representing State Sen. Daniel Biss), and Shaun McCabe (representing Cook County Commissioner Sean M. Morrison).
We also thank Sam Balark and AT&T for their generous sponsorship of this special annual event. More photos can be found here.
