SPC News: Emergency Vehicles Free Maintenance Training Class

Foster Coach/Horton Emergency Vehicles to Offer Free Maintenance Training Class

On Wednesday, October 1 and Thursday, October 2, the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) ambulance program vendor Foster Coach Sales, Inc./Horton Emergency Vehicles will conduct a free training class to better familiarize municipal maintenance personnel with the repair, service and maintenance of ambulances. While this class is geared to the Horton Type I Additional Duty ambulance units, there will also be useful information applicable to other units. A Horton service manager and a senior electrical engineer will be there to instruct and answer questions, as well as a service technician from Foster Coach Sales, Inc., and personnel from International Navistar Corporation.

Topics to be presented include: • Heating and Air Conditioning Maintenance & Repair • Air Suspension Maintenance & Repair • Intelliplex & HOPS Repairs • General Maintenance/Seasonal Checks o Torque Hardware (door stays, crash steps, nader pins, latches, body mounts) o Lubrication (crash steps, door handles, hinges) • HVAC Filter Replacement

The first class will be held on Wednesday, October 1 at the Glenview Police Department, 2500 East Lake Avenue. The class on Thursday, October 2 will be held at the Lockport Fire Protection District, 19623 Renwick Road in Lockport. Both classes will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and attendees will be issued a Certificate of Completion.
