April 24: NWMC Surplus Vehicle and Equipment Auction There is still plenty of time to line up your municipality’s surplus vehicles and equipment for sale at the NWMC Surplus Vehicle and Equipment Auction, which will be held at America’s Auto Auction (America’s AA) in Crestwood. Other participants to date include Country Club Hills, LaGrange, Park Forest, West Dundee and Wheaton.

America’s AA offers transportation service via third party providers for a flat rate of $1.50 per mile from the exact pickup location to the facility, located at 14001 S. Karlov Avenue in Crestwood. Charges are one way only, with a $35.00 minimum. This saves participants time and money by allowing public works staff to stay on the job rather than transporting vehicles to the auction. In addition, America’s AA offers a variety of optional services designed to maximize resale value. These are priced as follows:

  1. Auction Guarantee designation/mechanical inspection $25

  2. Wash and vacuum $25

  3. Vehicle condition reports-posted to car for all online and in lane bidders $35

  4. Dent removal per panel $60

  5. Decal removal per panel basis $45-$75

  6. Full detail $90

  7. Front window replacement $170

  8. New Keys $165

If you can’t make the April event, the other live auction dates for 2018 are Tuesday, July 24 and Tuesday, October 23. The NWMC agreement with America’s Auto Auction also provides for year-round Internet sales, so participants do not have to wait for one of the quarterly live sales in order to dispose of surplus vehicles and equipment. For questions or additional information, please contact staff or America’s Auto Auction Commercial Account Manager Bruce Uhter, Bruce.Uhter@americasautoauction.com, 708-389-4488 (office) or 219-713-0327 (cell).
