Oak Forest honors officer who died on duty

Oak Forest police and village officials paid tribute this week to a police officer who died on duty last year, even though many conceded that James Morrissy would have disliked being the subject of so much attention.

In a ceremony during Tuesday night’s city council meeting, Police Chief Greg Anderson announced that Morrissy’s badge number, 172, will never be worn by another officer, and the police department plans to create an annual award in Morrissy’s name to honor excellence within the department…Please click here to read Gregory Tejeda’s story in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
