New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann has a simple message for residents of the southwest suburb: Don’t buy gas there.
In his latest salvo in a long campaign against what he thinks are exorbitantly high gas prices in New Lenox, Baldermann this week encouraged locals to avoid fueling up in town or purchasing anything else from the local gas stations.
“If we were talking about 3 cents a gallon, you wouldn’t hear from me,” Baldermann told the Tribune Wednesday, following his comments about high gas prices at this week’s Village Board meeting. “But 20 to 30 cents a gallon?”
Over the last year and a half, Baldermann said he has received more than 100 e-mails and phone calls from residents complaining about gas prices in town.
