Matteson intends to be creative in looking for new uses for soon-to-be-vacant big-box stores in that suburb, according to Mayor Sheila Chalmers-Currin.
With recent announcements that Sam’s Club, Target and Toys R Us will shutter stores in Matteson, the village will explore trying to attract other uses for those spaces, such as light-industrial or warehouse tenants, she said.
