Lynwood, Ford Heights mayors opposed to consolidation legislation

Legislation that would create a new suburb of Lynwood-Ford Heights was blasted Tuesday by the mayors of both villages, who claim they weren’t even consulted about the proposed bill.

State Rep. Thaddeus Jones, D-Calumet City, is the chief sponsor of House Bill 1395 that would create “the consolidated Village of Lynwood-Ford Heights” beginning June 1, 2017 until May 31, 2025.”

Residents of the two villages would apparently have no voice in the matter until 2024, when a referendum would ask voters if they wanted to continue as one suburb or go back to being Ford Heights and Lynwood…Please click here to read Phil Kadner’s column in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
