Background: In 2013, Park Forest’s all volunteer economic development advisory group members surveyed nearly 300 residents about their dining preferences and what they would like to see in Park Forest. Overwhelming, Steak ‘n Shake was the number one response. A Steak ‘ n Shake representative met with Mayor John Ostenburg in 2014, at the International Council of Shopping Centers Real Estate convention. Read more about this convention on the Select Chicago Southland page.

Then, the advisory group collected nearly 700 signatures, representing 3,500 people, and sent the signatures to Steak ‘n Shake’s  corporate office. The group also created a Facebook page that had 524 members, and sent Steak ‘n Shake corporate a link to the page to encourage them to step a search for local operators. In response, Steak ‘n Shake franchise representative will be in Park Forest, January 12.
