Illinois Tollway to offer free trees and wildflower seeds on Arbor Day, 4/28

Come join the Illinois Tollway and celebrate Arbor Day. On April 28, they are giving away 7,500 tree seedlings and 7,500 wildflower seed packets. Everyone who picks up a tree or seeds also will receive a coupon for a free entry into The Morton Arboretum in Lisle.

Stop by the Tollway oasis in South Holland (Chicago Southland Lincoln oases on the Tri-State Tollway- I-94/I-294/I-80)  or any one of the seven oases and pick yours up from 7 a.m. until supplies run out.

Choose from four varieties of tree species that are native to Illinois, including:

  1. Shagbark Hickory

  2. Red Oak

  3. Pin Oak

  4. Pecan

Or pick up seed packets with a mix of native wildflowers, including:

  1. Wild bergamot (monarda fistulosa)

  2. Black-eyed Susan (rudbeckia hirta)

Join the Tollway and support the Chicago Region Trees Initiative to build a healthier and more diverse urban forest and help restore and create habitat for monarch butterflies and other important pollinators. Learn more >

Log Your Trees and Seeds After planting your trees and seeds, complete an online survey to log their location. Those participating will be entered into a drawing to win a free, one-year family membership to The Morton Arborteum. Drawing will be held on May 15. Put Your Tree On the Map >
