Healthy helping of ideas for state-owned site in Tinley

In an ideal world, the former Tinley Park Mental Health Center site would one day be home to a sports complex, housing for seniors, open recreation space or possibly all of the above.

Throwing out an array of ideas about what could or should ultimately be built on the 282-acre parcel, well over 300 village residents attended the first of a series of public meetings, with their input being among the ingredients of a master development plan for the property.

The village doesn’t own the property, and officials are at odds over whether Tinley Park should buy the now state-owned land, but they think that having a plan in place to guide future development would give the village greater control…Please click here to read Mike Nolan’s story in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
