Green Manufacturing Partnership to be recognized by the Great Lakes Manufacturing Council

The Calumet Green Manufacturing Partnership program has been nominated for recognition in the Great Lakes Manufacturing Council’s Talented Workforce Initiative.

The Calumet Green Manufacturing Partnership (CGMP) addresses the labor/skills mismatch and offers access to a pool of local workers trained and certified in advanced manufacturing technology for a range of manufacturing positions including computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment operations. The Council embarked on this ambitious drive last Fall to identify the most imaginative and effective workforce development and talent recruitment initiatives in the Great Lakes region. The goal of this initiative is to share the best ideas and approaches for resolving a critical workforce shortage issue that threatens nearly all manufacturers and communities in the bi-national Great Lakes trading region, the fourth largest economy in the world. It is the most frequently cited issue by manufacturers in our region.

The Council plans to publicly recognize nominees and honor the region’s most compelling programs at THE BIG M, in Detroit on Thursday, June 12, 2014. All are invited to join them us as they share these best practices and celebrate the “best of the best,” as determined by our panel of judges.
