FY 2015-2019 Surface Transportation Program call for projects is now open

By Thomas Vander Woude

The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association is now accepting applications for federal transportation funding through the Federal Fiscal Year 2015-2019 Surface Transportation Program. Please download a memo announcing the call for projects and a list of eligible communities.

Most transportation projects are eligible for 80% federal funding through FFY 2016 and 70% federal funding during subsequent years. Standalone lighting and utility projects are eligible for 50% federal funding. Note that the construction phase of roundabouts will be considered for 100% federal funding (pending Transportation Committee approval).

Please refer to the current SSMMA Surface Transportation Program Project Selection and Programming Process for a list of eligible projects and communities as well as application instructions. This document and the 2014-2018 Surface Transportation Program can be accessed here: http://ssmma.org/program-areas/transportation/surface-transportation-program-stp/

Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014. This deadline will allow time for staff review and for the SSMMA Technical Advisory Group to meet, review and rank projects prior to the October 7, 2014 meeting of the Transportation Committee.

Applications may be submitted electronically as PDFs or by hard copy. Electronic submission is preferred.

Please submit projects and direct any questions to:
