Feb. 24: CMAP’s Next Plan launch event

From the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning; please share with your community groups, potential partners to host workshops, or constituency stakeholders:

What should metropolitan Chicago look like by 2050, and how should we plan to get there?

Please join CMAP to launch the development of an entirely new regional comprehensive plan, building on the GO TO 2040 plan that was adopted in October 2010.

Visit CMAP beginning at 9:30 a.m. through noon on Wednesday, February 24, to learn the new plan’s name, to hear about topics under consideration, and most of all to tell us your ideas about what the plan should accomplish.

This event will be in an open house format so you can arrive or depart anytime that morning.  It will feature a rotating series of brief remarks by CMAP leaders including board chair Gerald Bennett and executive director Joseph Szabo, which will be offered twice: at 10:00 a.m. and again at 11:00 a.m.

The event format will enable in-depth conversations between staff and attendees.

Just drop in whenever it’s convenient, then connect with next plan team members who will have materials describing research and analysis that is underway. We want to hear your ideas early and often in the process of defining the plan’s objectives and strategies.  After getting your event ticket “punched” at each of four topical stations, you can leave with a new poster and button to signify you are part of the effort to develop the region’s next comprehensive long-range plan.

And before, during, and after the event, weigh in on Twitter with your own #2050BigIdeas for our region.

Visit http://cmap.is/next-plan-rsvp to RSVP by February 10.  CMAP is located at Suite 800, Willis Tower, 233 S. Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL 60606.  Please note that entry to Willis Tower requires a government-issued photo ID.

In case of inclement weather, please save our “snow date” of Wednesday, March 2, at 9:30 a.m.

Please email your thoughts or outreach leads to Jane Grover at jgrover@cmap.illinois.gov.
