The Village of Tinley Park (population approx. 57,000) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Public Works to assist in the direction, management, planning, and organization of the Public Works Department to include Administration, Road and Bridge, Water and Sewer, Facilities and Fleet. Work requires exercise of considerable professional judgment and initiative within the framework of established regulations, policies and Department Strategic Plan. In the absence of the Director of Public Works, this position may assume the duties of department director when assigned. A PDF of the job posting is available here.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Public Administration, Business Management or field closely related and minimum three (3) to five (5) years progressively responsible supervisory experience in Public Works; Master’s degree, desirable;
• Possession of Professional Engineering License from the State of Illinois, desirable;
• Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• Valid driver’s license, Class B CDL.
Residency Requirement: All full-time employees, as a condition of employment and continued employment, are required to reside within the planning area as defined in the Village’s comprehensive plan within twelve (12) months of the date of hire.
Salary Range: $96,458 – $125,892 plus generous benefit package including health/dental insurance, IMRF, Life Insurance and other optional programs including deferred compensation.
