The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) is seeking to hire an Executive Assistant. The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association is a Council of Government representing 44 communities in southern Cook and Will Counties. The Association is involved in transportation, housing, economic development, open space, environmental, broadband and other issues important to our member communities and our region. Position Description Individual reports to the Executive Director and the Finance Director.

Essential Functions 1. Staff support to the Executive Director, typing memos, letters, meeting notices and meeting minutes; responds to requests of member Mayors and Managers. 2. Plans and coordinates bi-monthly SSMMA dinner meetings, as well as other Association meetings and events. Coordinates SSMMA annual golf outing, legislative breakfast, training workshops and other special projects. 3. Staff support to SSMMA’s Finance Director including invoicing for membership dues and other items such as meetings and special SSMMA services; records payments received and other financial support activities as directed by the Finance Director. 4. Create and maintain various databases of SSMMA membership and committees, as well as other federal, state, county and local agencies and partners. 5. SSMMA’s liaison to the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative 6. Responsible for coordinating maintenance of office equipment, computer software and telephone system.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Must be a self-starter who has good communication skills. In addition, must be able to work with SSMMA staff and SSMMA communities who are very diverse and have different needs and issues.

Education and Experience A minimum of a high school diploma is required, but an Associates or Bachelor’s degree is desired. A minimum of 5 years of experience in similar work is preferred and a background in bookkeeping or accounting is desirable.

Office Automation Skills Proficient in all Microsoft Office Professional 2013 programs

This position is a full-time position with a salary range of $45,000 to $50,000 dependent on education and experience. Benefits will be provided.
