Scope of Work Responsible for the maintenance of the Village Hall, Fire Department, Police Department and Public Works Department vehicles and equipment. This position performs skilled and unskilled labor task.

Supervision Received Reports to the Assistant Director of Public Works

Requirements of Work Education: Graduated from a 2 year program in auto or truck mechanics from an accredited technical school.

Experience: 2 – 5 years of experience in repairing and servicing automotive equipment using electronic testing and diagnostic equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of light and heavy duty equipment, including but not limited to cars, SUV’s, light duty trucks, medium duty trucks, heavy trucks, material spreaders, backhoes, frontend loaders, skid steers, dump bodies, snow plows, trailers, electronic message boards, street sweepers, ambulances, pumper trucks and aerial equipment. • Diagnose, service and repair various systems that are found on automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, hydraulic and air brake systems, air conditioning systems, steering, suspension, drivetrain, computer controlled automatic transmissions, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. • Determine sources of system breakdowns or component malfunctions by utilizing electronic test equipment, computerized diagnostic equipment and personal experience. • Maintain automobiles, trucks and equipment in functional condition, conduct inspections, repair engine failures, repair mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions and replace parts and components. • Mount and remove snow and ice control equipment on trucks. • Maintain records of repairs, orders, time worked and fueling station use and CFA Fleet maintenance software. • Install, modify and maintain a wide variety of “add on” equipment required/requested by user departments. • Drive and operate vehicles and equipment occasionally to and from service sites, test drive vehicles before and after service repair. • Maintain a safe and clean working environment. • Be available for emergency call outs 24 hours a day.
