The City of Blue Island seeks qualified candidates for Full Time and Part Time 911 Dispatchers. Candidates must be willing and able to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
The 911 Dispatchers include: • Receiving, screening and assigning Police, Fire, and EMS emergency and non-emergency calls • L.E.A.D.S. and warrant entries • Maintaining dispatch records Knowledge and Skills Required: • Be L.E.A.D.S. certified or capable of attaining respective certifications within six months • Applicant must be well organized and able to manage complex issues • Applicant must have a professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills • Type accurately with a speed of at least 40 WPM • Fast paced, computerized customer service experience desired • Flexibility and multi-tasking are paramount Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old • Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma • Ability to speak clear articulate English • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
