Emergency grants bolster south suburban restaurants, hotels affected by pandemic

Several restaurants and hotels in the south and southwest suburbs impacted financially by the coronavirus pandemic are in line for thousands of dollars in state grants.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity said that 12,000 businesses applied for the funding, made available through the Hospitality Emergency Grant Program, and a little more than 700 businesses statewide were selected in a random lottery for grants.

About 25 businesses in the south and southwest suburbs, primarily hotels, received grants, according to the department. Hotels in Calumet City, Lansing, Matteson, Mokena, Oak Forest and Tinley Park were among recipients…Please click here to read Mike Nolan’s story in the  Tribune/Daily  Southtown.
