Earth Day activities and events in the Southland

Earth Day is being supersized to an eight-day Earth Week in Park Forest as organizers focus on a theme linking the environment to world peace.
Dave Bartlett, environment commission vice chairman and coordinator of Earth Week events for the village, has embraced the project “as sort of my baby…”
The week starts with an Arbor Day celebration hosted by the Park Forest Gardening Club from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Park Forest Library, 400 Lakewood Blvd. Club members will give free trees to library patrons, and the library will host crafts for all ages during the event.
