From CSX: An open letter to the Village of Crete and nearby communities (click here to download)…

TO OUR NEIGHBORS IN CRETE AND NEARBY COMMUNITIES: CSX is working to develop a state-of-the-art intermodal freight terminal in the Village of Crete, Ill. Throughout this process, CSX is committed to working with the Village of Crete and surrounding communities, Will County and the State of Illinois to develop a new terminal that enhances economic opportunities in the region and complements the local community.

CSX is dedicated to completing this project the right way – safely, ef ciently and in a manner that is respectful of our future neighbors, while safely delivering valuable economic and transportation bene ts.

The proposed terminal will create new jobs in the region, reduce shipping costs for goods and services we use daily, and improve roadway safety by diverting freight movement by truck onto trains. It will also add vital capacity to the national transportation infrastructure that will bene t the residents of Crete, Illinois and the entire nation.

To answer questions you may have, we’ve created a website at CSX.com/CreteIntermodal with more information about this project and other CSX intermodal terminals.

We also invite you to an open house meeting on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Crete-Monee High School in the cafeteria (1515 W. Exchange St, Crete, IL 60417) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We look forward to meeting you and answering your questions.
