Country Club Hills considers theater upgrades


Mothballed for nearly two years, Country Club Hills’ outdoor amphitheater could be in line for upgrades including more than doubling the number of fixed seats at the venue.

The theater, just east of city hall at 4200 W. 183rd St., hasn’t hosted a performance since the 2013 season, shuttered after tallying multimillion-dollar losses in its first few years of operation.

A tentative budget for the city’s current fiscal year earmarks more than $2 million in amphitheater improvements, although that spending plan has not yet been adopted by the city council.
