Local governments and other public agencies in Cook County can apply for some of the $8.5 million available for new transportation-related projects.
The new program seeks projects that go beyond the county’s traditional focus on roads to include pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and freight-related improvements, said John Yonan, county superintendent of transportation and highways.
