The solicitation for the 2013-2014 Safe Routes to School Program is now open.  Please download this letter or visit this link for soliciting projects.  If you have any questions please contact the Bureau of Safety Engineering at 217-782-3568 or send an email to DOT.SafeRoutes@Illinois.gov

The Illinois Safe Routes To School (SRTS) Program supports projects and programs that enable and encourage walking and bicycling to and from school. The program applies to schools serving grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.  To see additional information, visit the Safe Routes to School national website.

Key features of the Illinois SRTS Program include: · Projects are funded 80% Federal / 20% local match

· Each project will require a separate application

· A travel plan will not be required.

Important Dates:

· October 31, 2013: Applications will be accepted.

· January 31, 2014: All applications are due.
