Transportation, land use and economic development study anticipates tremendous amount of growth

If and when a proposed east-west toll way materializes between Interstates 55 and 65, the north-south Ill. Route 394/Ill. Route 1 corridor “will become the most direct route between Chicago and Indianapolis and all points east,” South Suburban Mayors & Managers Association’s Tom Vander Woude said Wednesday. “We anticipate there will be a tremendous amount of growth in terms of traffic and we want to get ahead of it,” said Vander Woude, SSMMA Deputy Executive Director of Transportation and Infrastructure.
