Training course at PSC opens doors to manufacturing jobs

…The Calumet Manufacturing Careers Internship Program offers [the manufacturing] industry a pipeline of qualified employees through an extensive 10-week course that focuses on acquiring job competency.

It’s not for everyone, of course, but interns get their feet wet and their hands dirty and can make a decision on their future.

Calo jumped at the chance. He passed the three-hour tryout, the basic education tests for reading and math and drug screenings. He was one of 10 accepted into the program at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, where from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. five days a week he learned basic get-a-job skills from writing resumes to the interview process…Please click here tor read Jerry Shnay’s story in the Southtown Star.
