Please join us as we welcome Leslie Phemister, SSMMA’s new transportation planner. Leslie is responsible for south suburban/regional transportation planning and programming activities related to highway, freight, transit and non-motorized transportation facilities and projects. She offers staff support to the SSMMA membership, providing technical assistance in obtaining and administering federal and state transportation funds; technical support to the association through research, report preparation and agency coordination efforts; and implementation of the member communities’ long-range transportation planning activities and other regional transportation projects, studies and programs. Leslie has a long career of uniting community members around active transportation and livable communities. She was a Community Engagement Specialist for Active Transportation Plans and policy development, assisting communities with implementation. She continues to be a resource for the Chicagoland region on creating excitement about active transportation.
