SSMMA Enterprise Zones recognized for streamlining government services

On Dec. 15, Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti visited the Village of Schaumburg, Illinois Government where she honored several public entities for their efforts to share services and save taxpayers money. They included SSMMA Enterprise Zones, where 38 municipalities and Will and Cook counties worked cooperatively with the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association to create and apply four enterprise zones to support economic development in the region.
Others recognized were the Schaumburg Park District KASPER program, Northwest Educational Council for Student Success, Wheeling Park District Heritage Park Flood Control Project, Mabas Division 24 Headquarters Procurement and Special Response Teams, and Morris Elementary School District #54 MCHS District #101 Saratoga Elementary School Shared Transportation Service. All six were included in the Journal of Local Government Shared Service Best Practices published in partnership with Governor Rauner’s Local Government Consolidation and Unfunded Mandates Task Force.
