The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced of Feb. 3, 2014 a Request for Information (RFI) has been posted in connection with the South Suburban Airport (SSA). The purpose of this RFI is to obtain specific ideas and goals that will help generate a comprehensive and effective strategy to market commercial air passenger and air cargo activity at SSA. “The South Suburban Airport is one of our top priorities and the faster we can get it built, the faster the people of Will County will reap the many benefits this economic engine will generate,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann L. Schneider. “This project, along with the proposed Illiana project, will create thousands of good-paying jobs and provide a major boost to the local economy.” The South Suburban Airport (SSA) will be a new supplemental air carrier airport in Will County.
