With a groundbreaking celebration for the Cal-Sag Trail looming on June 7, community leaders at a breakfast meeting Wednesday were served a heaping helping of inspiration for how to leverage the many benefits the trail will offer.
Steve Buchtel, executive director of Trails for Illinois, has often talked about the “triple bottom line” of trails — which offer not only recreational benefits, but vast opportunities for improving health, economic development and the environment, on which other towns have capitalized.
