Oak Forest aldermen have approved the city buying a two-acre site that includes a long-vacant retail building to help with the Gateway redevelopment project around the Metra station.
The city will buy the property and the former Ace Hardware store for $470,000, but Mack Companies, the project developer, will contribute $85,000 toward the purchase, according to city officials.
