Oak Forest launches first street art project

Opportunity Knocks” is the theme of a new community art project in Oak Forest, but the words have real meaning.

Artists — and others who concede they are not — have been given the chance not only to contribute to a unique display near the city’s busiest intersection, but to pay tribute to opportunities that come along with being, for example, a Girl Scout, a high school student or just a friendly resident in Oak Forest.

What started out as 19 plain, white doors mounted in the grassy area where the weekly farmers market is held, at the northwest corner of 159th Street and Cicero Avenue, have become a variety of colorful expressions…Please click here o read Allison Matyus’ story in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
