Mokena Administrator John Downs to retire after 27 years

The white and tan walls in John Downs’ office have been barren for awhile — since the rooms and halls at Mokena Village Hall received a fresh coat of paint a few months ago.

“Why put them back up?” Downs said of his photos, plaques and memorabilia that once adorned the walls.
