Manufacturing Day 2017 was an enormous success in the Chicago Southland! Coordinated by partners CSEDC, OAI, Inc. and Prairie State and South Suburban Colleges, over 450 high school students toured 30 manufacturing companies! Both Prairie State and South Suburban Colleges hosted campus events to demonstrate their certificate and degree programs available in the manufacturing sector. See the blog post written by Rose of Sharon DeVos, Business Development Manager at Pioneer Services, Inc. about her experience including Kaitlyn’s video that already has over 100 views! Additional photos from that tour can be found here. A video documenting the Hillcrest High School tour of Mi Jack Products can be seen here.
Manufacturing Day in the southland is directly connected to the Southworks Robotics and Engineering Competition. This season, over 20 schools have been paired with sponsoring manufacturing companies located in the Chicago Southland. A coaches clinic kicked-off the season to introduce the six competition areas and to get teachers excited about the upcoming year. The Competition event will be held at South Suburban College on Sat April 14, 2018. Questions can be directed to Don Brozek, Program Manager, OAI, Inc. dbrokek@oaiinc.org
