Historic barn gets new lease on life

All too often, we see old, even historic structures demolished in the name of progress. But that will not be the fate of the great old barn at Camp Sullivan at 147th Street and Oak Park Avenue near Oak Forest.
The barn, which was built in the early 1900s, is being renovated by the Cook County Forest Preserve District. In fact, Camp Sullivan has been completely renovated to create a public campground with a range of lodging and camping options, nature-themed programs and events.
