From Bud’s and Daley’s Ambulance:
It is with a heavy heart that we must share this news. Tom Wappel, Vice President / Co-owner of Bud’s and Daley’s Ambulance and longtime SSMMA associate member, lost his battle to cancer on Monday, March 25, 2019. Tom passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family. While it is difficult to say goodbye, we take great comfort is knowing Tom is no longer in pain.
Tom was a loving husband, father and papa. He was a paramedic for 35 years and took pride in our company, especially the people who dedicated themselves to help make it thrive. He and his business partner, Jack Daley, started Bud’s Ambulance in June 2001 for the sole purpose of helping the south suburban communities by providing an affordable emergent ambulance service to partner with. This was after multiple communities reached out to Tom and Jack, asking them to assist. Along with the help of many lifelong, dedicated employees, Bud’s was formed and the family tradition of service since 1950 (original founder, John “Bud” Daley II) lives on.
As a company, we know that there is no greater way to honor Tom, than continuing to provide high quality care to all those in need. Tom always made sure the people in his life were taken care of. He always encouraged us to be the solution, not the problem. While it will be difficult not to see him around the office every day, we know Tom will be with us as we grow as an organization. Please keep Tom and his family in your prayers.
