Final arrangements for East Hazel Crest Police Chief Kenneth L. Vallow


The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association is saddened by the news that East Hazel Crest Police Chief Kenneth L. Vallow has passed away and extends sincere condolences to his family, friends and the Village of East Hazel Crest.

Kenneth passed away at his home on May 06th, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on December 03rd, 1946, and was a lifelong resident of the Village of East Hazel Crest.

Kenneth went head-on at everything he encountered, with no signs of waning. Throughout his life, Kenneth has aspired to be more, to work hard and to never give up. At an early age Kenneth worked at the family auto mechanic garage, learning his way around an engine. Kenneth was drafted into the Army, where he served as a Military Police Officer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After two years of service, Kenneth returned home and continued working in civil service. While employed with a trucking company, Kenneth also joined the East Hazel Crest Police Department, as well as the East Hazel Crest Fire Department as a volunteer fireman. Kenneth’s career spanned 49 years as a police officer with the East Hazel Crest Police Department, and 28 years as a fireman with the East Hazel Crest Fire Department. Kenneth held the titles of patrolman, Detective, Evidence Technician, Criminal Investigator, Field Training Officer and Chief of Police during his career with the East Hazel Crest Police Department.
