Press release from the Village of Dolton:
In an effort to lower the unemployment rate in the Village of Dolton, Mayor Riley Rogers, in partnership with the 1000 Jobs Campaign, hosted a hiring event to help place people in open manufacturing jobs in the region. The 1000 Jobs Campaign and its partners – Calumet Green Manufacturing Partnership, Manufacturing Works, and Business Career Services – screened candidates for open positions and introduced people to local training opportunities and other resources able to prepare them for careers in manufacturing.
The event was a result of a collaboration between the Village of Dolton, the 1000 Jobs Campaign, South Suburban Mayors & Managers Association and the State of Illinois, to pass a resolution to keep a major manufacturer – Ardagh Group – in Dolton. Ardagh Group is committed to hiring Dolton residents and has partnered with the 1000 Jobs Campaign to find candidates. The 1000 Jobs Campaign works with manufacturers throughout Chicagoland to match candidates with jobs that are close to home and best fit their skill sets and experience.
Over 150 individuals who attended last Wednesday’s event were screened for Ardagh Group jobs as well as all other open 1000 Jobs Campaign positions. Nearly 100 people received information on available training options in the manufacturing sector. Those interested in careers in manufacturing who were unable to attend the event should go to: www.1000jobscampaign.com. Click here for a related video.
