Cal Sag and Will/Cook County Enterprise Zones finally certified


The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity approved the Cal Sag and Will/Cook County applications for new enterprise zones, effective Jan. 1, 2016. The enterprise zones will be in effect for an initial 15 years, or a lesser amount of years if specified in ordinances or intergovernmental agreements.

DCEO will be partnering with the Village of Alsip to implement goals and objectives to achieve job creation and investment in the Cal Sag Enterprise Zone, which includes portions of Blue Island, Calumet Park, Country Club Hills, Harvey, Oak Forest, Alsip, Dixmoor, East Hazel, Crest, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Markham, Merrionette Park, Midlothian, Phoenix, Robbins, and Worth, and the County of Cook. DCEO will also be working with the Village of Park Forest to implement goals and objectives to achieve job creation and investment in the Will/Cook County Enterprise Zone, which includes portions of Matteson, Monee, Park Forest, Richton Park, University Park and the Counties of Cook and Will. The Calumet Region Enterprise Zone application was submitted by Dec. 31, 2015, and is now being reviewed by DCEO. Applicants hope that it will be certified by September 2016. The zone includes portions of Calumet City, Lansing, Dolton, Riverdale, South Holland, Thornton and Unincorporated Cook County. Please click here to see the map.
