Mayors from across Illinois held a Statehouse press conference on May 1, 2014 to discuss the municipal police and firefighter pension solvency crisis. The financial health of these municipal pension funds have been steadily eroding despite increasing amounts of tax revenue being allocated to fund the pension benefits. The mayors are requesting that the General Assembly work with them to reverse this decline and strengthen the pension funds before cities are forced to raise taxes and cut services…Please click here for the video.
