Overpass bridging CN tracks in Lynwood opens

Photo courtesy of Wight & Company. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) commissioned Wight & Company to provide transportation engineering services for a replacement bridge along Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Lynwood.

With Friday’s opening of the new overpass bridging the Canadian National Railway tracks, the lengthy traffic backups along U.S. 30 near the Indiana-Illinois state line will eventually come to an end.

Slated to be completed in the fall of 2016, the overpass project reduces the potential for accidents by eliminating the at-grade crossing with the EJ&E/CN railroad tracks.
