Overpass bridging CN tracks in Lynwood opens

With Friday’s opening of the new overpass bridging the Canadian National Railway tracks, the lengthy traffic backups along U.S. 30 near the Indiana-Illinois state line will eventually come to an end.

Slated to be completed in the fall of 2016, the overpass project reduces the potential for accidents by eliminating the at-grade crossing with the EJ&E/CN railroad tracks. It will also eliminate delays and congestion related to that railroad at-grade crossing, said Guy Tridgell, spokesperson for the Illinois Department of Transportation…Please click here to read Lu Ann Franklin’s story in the Times.
